I received a text message from an airline company informing me to call them in the morning to talk about a flight that was cancelled. I immediately panicked because I wasn’t sure which flight was cancelled.
So I decided to call the airline company straight away to find out which of the two flights was cancelled. See, I was originally flying from Adelaide to Melbourne at 6:30 am, arriving at almost 8 am. The Melbourne to Auckland was at 9:45 am, arriving at 3pm.
You wouldn’t believe which one was cancelled…
The lady on the other end of the phone told me that the Adelaide to Melbourne flight was cancelled due to technical issues.. Apparently they were fixing the engines that night and believed that they won’t be able to get it done in time.
As anyone would, I started to freak. I informed the lady of my connecting flight to Auckland. She spoke to her supervisor and gave me a few options.
After a while, she placed me in a flight from Adelaide to Sydney at 9am, then a Sydney to Auckland flight at 6:30pm.
It was my only option, since my friend Chani was going to be arriving at the airport from Christchurch the same day (as well as not forfeiting the hotel room I pre-booked). The bonus part was that I didn’t have to pay for anything (since it was the airline fault).
I called the hotel to inform them of my late arrival, then emailed Chani through facebook, then YouTube, then messaged her friend Lydia to tell her to check her emails.
As I was waiting at the airport, I received a call from Chani. She told me that her flight was cancelled as well and that she doesn’t arrive until 30 minutes before me. A big sigh of relief…
Fast forward to now, we’re in our hotel room… all tired.. Exploring Auckland later today.
