Windy Point

December 2nd, 2007 No Comments

So it’s Meagan/Amanda/whatshername’s birthday weekend. A small group of her friends went to Windy Point for dinner. Meagan had booked it a few nights before.

I originally wasn’t going because I had another friend’s birthday yesterday. But something unfortunate happened and that was canceled, so I went to Meagan’s birthday. Luckily she had one extra spot – see, the Windy Point is one of those places that I wouldn’t normally go to for dinner.

Anyways, the view was amazing and the food was fantastic. I would recommend this place to anyone…

I kicked started her birthday weekend by catching up with her on Friday. See, she wanted to go and watch a movie on Thursday, but I was busy with the reports. So to make it up to her, I visited on Friday. Since she had her kids this weekend, we hired a movie and bought popcorn and watched a movie at home.

Then in the morning, I treated them breakfast at this place called Bocca in Melbourne Street.

Yes, that meant that I slept over at Meagan’s. No… I slept on the couch…

First day back…

Arg… First day back as a teacher, and already my voice is starting to go. I haven’t really rested it since I was doing Vacation Care.

We tried out Reader’s Theatre today. The students loved it. They wanted to do more of it. It was good to see that they were enthusiastic about it.

Also stopped by Starbucks on the way home. There was a new girl there who took my order. She was unsure as to how many shots a caramel macchiato usually have. So she asked someone who was in the storeroom. As soon as she mentioned that someone wanted 4 shots, the girl in the storeroom figured out straight away that it was me. She knew me by my first name. It was really awesome. Now I can just say “the usual, thanks” and they’ll know what I want. Too bad the one in the city didn’t catch on when I went there often…

Extra Shots!!

June 18th, 2007 2 Comments

I went to Starbucks after work today and had my usual drink. I took my money out ready to pay the usual amount (Aust$6.05) when the server said that the extra shots were free today. They said they have that deal every second Monday (next week is extra syrup for free).

I was like “score, add an extra two to my quad shot grande caramel macchiato”. As usual, they were suprised that someone wanted that many. 6 shots in total… I’m guessing that would be my limit because when I tasted my CM (hey, it’s my initials.. XD), it tasted like the American version of the quad shot grande caramel macchiato. And if I go over, I’ll end up feeling sick.

Anyways, it tasted so good… mmm 6 shots…. :D

I swear…

…Australia might as well be a US state. I was walking around the city of Brisbane and I noticed a known American Hotel/Motel called Best Western. Granted there are 4000 hotels in nearly 80 countries (some can be found here), but it originated in Phoenix (according to the Wiki page). Not only that, there are 7-Elevens all over here as well (actually, they can only be found in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland). As usual, there are Starbucks cafes, Maccas (McDonald’s) and Hungry Jack’s (Burger King) all over Brisbane too.

Not only those… I was on my way out of the train station in Brisbane, when I saw a Quiznos Sub Restaurant. I could not believe my eyes when I saw it. I was going to take a photo, but the lady behind the counter was giving me some weird looks. So I left and contined my way to where I was supposed to go.

Back in Adelaide though, there’s a Borders store.

*sigh*

What has the world come to??
